Three images made up of repeated motifs found in personal photographic archive- stones, lines, photographers. Each motif is stripped of context and time and grouped together onto one canvas.
A Series of Mistranslations is a moving text/video work which groups together translation practices in an attempt to explore the role of the translator and language in the creation process. Using subtitles and translations made over the years for various productions, the work exposes a narrative of participation and non-participation and the power relations and hierarchy between creator and subject. In the work the metadata and markers used to organize the subtitles is revealed to hint at the directing hand and crew behind the camera.
