Sūkūn

stillness, tranquility, repose, quietude, calmness, quiescence, peace, gravity, immobility, sedation, inactivity, placidity.

In Arabic the word Sūkūn holds a seemingly endless possibility of meanings which may sometimes appear contradictory to each other, especially on first reflection.

This series explores the sentimentality humans have towards certain environments. It is a reflection  on a sense of self in a certain place. A signifier of the value of a person to a place and a place to a person.

What makes a place “meaningful” enough or not “meaningful” at all? Is time spent a factor? rootedness? memory? Or sense of place?
